I went to the Mike B. school of aggresive driving,and tend to thrash the car pretty hard on certain roads. :twisted: Downshifting is a neccesity.In town driving,I tend to use the brakes more and downshift a lot less.Also,after a expensive rebuild,I have broken the habit of resting my hand on the shifter. I almost always coast up to a stoplight,and select first after I am stopped.Interesting post on different driving styles.

if you don't match the rpm when downshifting, you're putting a huge load on the tranny. The main reason for downshifting should be to accelerate out of the corner as you hit the apex. Use the brakes to slow the car down
