Hypothetical question
Re: Hypothetical question
Most of the time, its pretty cool. Ive seen people give away their trophies to deserving folks. Besides, everyone wins in the parkin lot! We go to have fun... It would be hard to set the criteria for judging. Id rather see a good original-paint win over a re-store. And the modified class would be interesting. Safety and some performance mods would be necessary, especially for carbd 2L Spiders. I just do not like the popular vote. But it would be remiss not to recognise certain "special" people and their Fiats.

Re: Hypothetical question
I agree Dave. It seems there are many people that take the voting too seriously. The instance I'm talking about is a prime example. Another thing that upset me was a couple people that entered their car as "display only" were told to shut their hoods since they weren't being voted on. I'd much rather check out all the cars and talk to their owners at my own pace. If any of you have met me, you know my pace is pretty slow.

Re: Hypothetical question
good thing they didn't tell me to shut my hood... whoever they are... cuz i drove over 600 miles JUST SO folks could look under my hood, even though I was a "display" car.
btw - did you get to see the crackle paint Denise? and the hidious looking but non-leaking Radiator?

Re: Hypothetical question
No, I didn't get to see anything. Too busy trying to decipher the voting card. Next year, I'll definitely enter my car as display so I can spend my time doing what I do best: gabbing and checking out the other rides.

Re: Hypothetical question
Mike ,I am still trying to get over your crackle-paint.All kidding aside ,there was not enough time to socialize and check out other cars.I had some things I wanted to look at and for,but by the time I was done voting a lot of people had left. There was a lot of confusion on the ''show'' or ''display''.My car was supposed to be in the show ,but I got a display placard.I knew I wasnt gonna win anything, but I would have loved some feedback.

Re: Hypothetical question
I am restoring a 73. My original 73 had a 1608 engine, but the only restorable one I could find had the 1592. I am putting a rebuilt 1608 into it and replacing the tach with the 9000 rpm version. I'm am doing this for myself and hadn't really planned to show the car. But this discussion makes me wonder if I am doing the right thing for the car's future owner ( who will only get it when he pries it from my cold dead fingers).
Re: Hypothetical question
How do they decide the winning car if the Judges have to pick a winner what makes a car
the cream of the crop is it all original or are modified cars but very clean and well done
stand a chance ? i was wondering how they choose . On the topic of different class's

The show is by popular vote of all members so it doesn't matter if the cars are all original or modified. Clean and well done is how my Spider had been chosen in the past. Most people don't know what original looks like since most Fiats are customized to suit the individual owner.

Here's a pic of the trophy. I'll have to post pics of my trailer also. You guys will really think I'm a flamboyant redneck once you see the trailer.

Re: Hypothetical question
Looks like that trophy will hold a lot of beef jerky.
If Denise could get salt on the rim, it would be her margarita cup.

Re: Hypothetical question
Thanks Denise
Thats a cool Trophy i'm glad a FS.com Member won since i know many Spider owners out there aren't active
FS.com it would of been sad to see a none member win and never see or hear from them again ! After all
the build up of this Fiat Spider Challenge it seem to take a long time to finally have the event last year .
I am sure this is 1 more reason you believe the early spiders are far far better then the later models ! hehe
just had to through that in there .

Re: Hypothetical question
If your car trailer is nicer than the trailer you live in....you might be a redneck. That's me! Sure nuff, I'll make sure we have plenty of sweet tea in the cooler next time. I see that as the main downfall once you leave the Southeast.ga.spyder wrote:Everyone in the south has a trailer...dont they? Hey Denise ,fill that baby with sweet tea for the next FFO!

at least the mural on the back of your trailer isn't from your living room wall!
