I am the very proud owner of a 1983 Pininfarina Azzurra Spider. Took the leap and ended up with a trunk of receipts and notes from the first and second owner (I'm the 4th). Drove it home on a 4 hour drive without any problems as well as to work the last few days. These really are beautiful cars.

Thanks again for the help from everyone and I'll get a photo up soon.

I have an 84 and while technically it is not a FIAT it still is. The motor and other parts especially in the 83 are pure FIAT. It is my understanding that Pininfarina modified leftover 82's to make some of the 83's. Some parts are a little hard to get but not really that bad. I have had somethings custom made to replace original parts.

Congratulations on your new(ish) 1983 Spider! Post some pictures when you get a chance, use http://imgur.com/ and copy/paste the direct link. Also, you may also find that your head bolts have hex heads which requiring a special tool.

I wish the storage space was mine. Belonged to the former owner when I went to pick up the car. He had a garage the same size of his house that he built for his cars. It was beautiful

Hi mattman079

Congratulations on your new Pininfarina. Enjoy many miles of fun. I also have an '83 Pininfarina. She has 62000 miles on her. They're twins. Mine was built in 9/83. I've kept her completely original. The only gripe that I have is that it's titled as a Fiat not a Pininfarina and New Jersey will not change the title. I've presented the DMV with all the information that I was able to find, but they won't budge. Oh well. Is your's titled as a Pininfarina or Fiat? I'm curious. Here's a link to a Pininfarina Azzurra website. You might the information interesting. Again, happy motoring.

Nice car! I've never seen a Pinin with that type of mirror and vent window. Perhaps it was an early build date and they used 82 parts?

I'm not sure if it was a early model or one of the owners before me decided to replace the side mirrors/windows with vent windows. The driver side view mirror had to have the hole drilled, on the passenger side there is no mirror at all or holes to mount it. Still deciding if I want to install a mirror on that side. Sad to think about drilling into the beauty.

The plate on the driver's side door jam has the build date on it and if it was manufactured by Pininfarina.

I would like to see the attach on the rear to attach your boot. Are you shure it's not a 82?Image It should be a button.

Hello checked the inside of the door jam and it says it was made late 1983 by Pininfarina. Boot cover is in line with the Azzurra design as well.

You did good! Love the color and lack of side door molding that was often added at the dealership. I've owned an 83 but prefer the earlier Fiats because I like the original back seat.
