Thanks. The door panels are another story. I brought those to a different upholsterer, a guy north of Mocksville, about 18 months ago. All I wanted him to do was glue black vinyl on the top portion where the original tan was ripped. Since the dash is black, it would create a wrap around effect. It's literally a 30 minute job for him, and he still has them hanging up on his wall.
I think the Mocksville guy is mad at me. He did my 64 TBird seats using two full skins of leather, front and back- no vinyl. An absolutely fantastic job. I asked him if he could cover the dash in vinyl- no one makes a replacement- and he said it was too complicated for him, too many compound curves. So I took it to this other guy in Winston-Salem and he did it for $300. He did the compound curves by trimming and French stitching- not perfect but looks damn good. I guess I made the mistake of telling the Mocksville guy how well it turned out. Last time I talked with him was about 6 months ago and I said I needed my Fiat door panels done in 4 weeks.
My paint guy in Mocksville knows this guy and has agreed to intervene. I'll need these in another week or so. Once I do, I'll show up at his shop and if they are not done I'll take them off the wall and be out the door. Then I'll take them to the Winston guy and have them done in vinyl to match the seats.
