I would have only pushed them if I was stuck and needed assistance to avoid being towed past the free limit of my roadside assistance plan. Otherwise I would have countered and just walked out the door since who needs a company with that attitude working on their car.
A pleasant surprise was that the old Firestone Shop in town had all the specs for the Spider in their system and looked forward to do a lifetime alignment on the car. They did not have the sandbags to do it laden so they put two of their 150 lb garage monkeys in the seats and put a few extra tires in the trunk and did a great job. They even asked permission for the kids to take a group photo with the car when they were done.

Very cool! And that's just the type of people you want to have working on your Spider!DieselSpider wrote: A pleasant surprise was that the old Firestone Shop in town had all the specs for the Spider in their system and looked forward to do a lifetime alignment on the car. I had that very same first thought, and then the second. I have no interest in going to a shop where they drool all over a '63 XKE or a '66 GTO and sneer at an '81 Spider.DUCeditor wrote:That same thought crossed my mind. "But"... Yeah "but." I found one promising shop via the interwebs. Euro-Tec Motors in Livingston, NJ. I mention it in case anyone in NJ has had experience with them. Their Facebook page features Alfas and an X1/9, so that seems like it may be my kind of place.

just one comment. the Chinese switches are not "ill fitting" they are made to the same specs as the lada. saying something about other vendors products that is not true just to damage them is dishonest. I guess that is some companies business models as when years ago a fiat x1/9 parts vendor who could not afford the transmission parts he had ordered from an fiat parts importer lied about the origin and quality of the parts on xweb.
we had bought 400 ignition switch and have sold 360 of them with out problems except for the customers admitting they damaged the switch by not following the instructions, there is nothing wrong with the lada switches we sell. we do not promote our business by being attack dogs.
