Okish in my view. But thanks for the link.

Didn't seem lika a final cut version though. No conclusions re cars or hysterical air plane stunt.

And little negative on reasonably priced classics.

So in all, a grade 4 out of 10. At most.

Exactly. When they took similar cars down the Amalfi Coast earlier they did not put that negative spin on them and doom them to failure. Expected a members car to do well until they took it and trashed it at a track day race with the "Fast and Furious".

I wonder how much of this was forced by the BBC and the reason behind Clarkson taking a desperate measure to get out of his contract.

The core of the two films was filmed before the "fracas" and the pieces together.

I thoroughly enjoyed them - and have a 1080p HD version of the entire 1h12m episode.....

As a 6'6" driver I was surprised by clarkson's complaints on space and then not replacing the steering wheel!

All in all - a great romp and a shame to end the format.

Thanks for posting that... I was sad when they cancelled the series and just when one of our beloved Spiders was to be a guest. Did anyone notice that while they were racing around the track and the guys were going over the specs of the car Jeremy says it's a 16v motor? Regardless, nice to finally see the episode and thanks again to the original poster!

I understand the time frames however as I recall Clarkson has favorably mentioned these as Classic Italian cars in the past so his about face almost seemed forced upon him. I would have been upset if I had been forced to mess up a classic car that was in as nice condition as the Spider he was driving.

Racing a new Alpha with an Amphibious ATV and not having the heart to show up at the finish line first even though he won was enjoyable. The wooden bridge episode with the diesel lorries was fun. The Ariel Atom drive was great. Having Clarckson driving a Peel 50 around inside the BBC offices was a romp too. His ride in the modified personal vehicle with the built in bucket helmet was fun too.

One thing to have a bit of a romp but to mechnically trash a viable roadworthy 124 Spider was a bit much. Hopefully all the classic cars abused are going to a good home now and not a wrecking yard or car shredder.

well to add to that, the few things he said were utter rubbish. "like the suspension improvement" by cutting the springs!!!!! or the 16v engine, or the alloy wheels having the wrong size holes, so they don't run true or something along those lines. What was that all about?

Well,
That's another half hour out of my life I'll never get back.
Think I'll go drive my Spider and Coupe to offset that wasted time.

Of course it wasn't as polished as it could have been, as it was just two segments chopped together with sparse moderation, but still I realised that I''ve gotten rather tired of the Top Gear formula. I had a genuine laugh at Hammond going wing-walking, but overall it felt very "been there, done that, have the t-shirt 20 times over".

Some here would also believe that cutting springs is a good idea. :D I assume with "oval holes", he was just being a bit creative with his description of "wobble bolts" that are used to mount 4x100 wheels on the 4x98 Fiat hubs.

Twin Cam, 16V... to most viewers it wouldn't matter. The general message was that the Fiat TC was ahead of its time.
