Mine too, John - except I don't drive my Spider in the rain and we're well into Monsoon season up here in the rain forest. We've been feeling the effects of some pacific currents coming up from Hawaii with some pretty warm, wet weather. Got a high pressure ridge moving up for the weekend which is going to bring some sun - and hopefully a bit of a top down drive!

I ordered a small part from IAP, and they offered USPS Priority Mail so that I'd get the part in 2 days. I was surprised at their offer and agreed. The part arrived 6 days later via UPS
Most of the suppliers I deal with won't use USPS since they have to make a trip to the post office to ship.

I appreciate the AR approach to me up here in the Great White North. I know they package as much as they can in small boxes some of which they make themselves. Often they take the parts out of the cumbersome packaging and ship in bubble wrap inside the box. Shipping to us Canucks at the best rate is important. Can someone explain how the shipping cost are arrived at? I know it is based on size and weight but Ramzi has mentioned he can get the extra parts I order at the last minute into the current package for the same shipping rate. Also I get AR to ship priority post for small items and get them in 5 business days. When shipping parts inside Canada Grey Hound bus seems to give the best rate.

Lastly I go "South" for vacation in the winter. I went to Phoenix last year and am booked to go again next year. I contacted a member of this form from the Phoenix area ( Russ) who was happy to have the parts shipped to his address and then we hooked up to make the exchance. Thanks Russ I will be planning the same this year if you are good with that.Did have some entertainment at the Phoenix airport going through security with brake calipers; hoses; ignition switch and a bunch of other parts in my carry on.

I recommend ensuring that replacement cams (for example) are in your carry on. Sure, they taise eyebrows and you have to go check the bag..... But you get a free high resolution X-ray to inspect and assure their quality.

I found it funny that american officials claimed that the geese that downed the plane in New York came from canada. Considering that geese inhabit and breed nearby I felt that maybe, once again, we were being blamed for their problems. But I was mistaken because when the FBI examined the contents of the mashed geese in the engines the found undigested tim bits and maple donuts.

Over the past ten years or so I've dealt with many vendors for various vintage vehicles: Vespas, old motorbikes, now the Fiat.

UPS (and FedEx) will almost always charge exorbitant brokerage fees, even when there is no actual customs tariff (free trade and all that), but they are just collecting the HST. On one or two occasions I've had a UPS package arrive with no fee, but it's rare.

USPS packages, on the other hand, frequently arrive and are just dropped off, no C.O.D. or fees. I had an order from A/R earlier this year that must have been for more than US$400 and it was just dropped off. No taxes payable, even. Yay! OTP of San Angelo, TX also helped me out of a jam once, and it was USPS by default for orders to Canada.

If I'm in a real rush, stuff can get sent inexpensively to a UPS store on the south side of the border. It's about a 45 min drive each way, so -- considering the time (2 hrs), the gas, and the for-sure HST since one declares at the border -- I have to anticipate at least an $80 or more shipping fee to make it worthwhile. Sometimes it's good for vendors that don't even ship internationally, too.
