When working under a car, after getting it settled on jack stands, I usually put the tires I pulled off under the car as added protection. That way, if the jack stands were to fail while I'm under there, I would not be the only thing the chassis was resting on. On cars with fairly fat tires, this gives a decent amount of protection but on a Fiat with skinny tires, it gives a bit less. Still, it's an easy safety net for a worst case situation.

I had my Spider on a lift on the jacking spots and dropped my rear end straight away with the engine and trans still in the car. Never a bobble and it was 6 feet off the ground.

It is very stable.
I think it would have to take a lot of force to rock the car off them.
I usually keep the tyres underneath for the just in case, if there is the room

Do you go to the Autoitalia?

I went in 2013 in my Montecarlo, but have to admit the drive up and back was pretty uncomfortable.

I am 6'2" and the Monte interior isn't exactly spacious.

I have a very noisy exhaust (not by choice, just the design of the system I bought years ago in the UK), so that doesn't help either.

Not sure how loud the Fiat is yet as I haven't got to the point of firing her up just yet.

Are you going this year?

It is a great event.

I normally go every year from Sydney, the spider is reasonably comfortable, the only issue is getting too much sun during the day and then being knacked to drive back home....

I like to have insurance when working under the car, so 4 Besser blocks from the Bunnings and some timber on top the blocks as a backup to the stands, - on the front you can use the rails.
