My car is named for my father - I haven't told him yet...
I don't know how he'd take it

Re: Spider Names
Interestingly enough, I drove the car into the "big city" yesterday to try on suits for a buddy's wedding. It was a perfect night for a drive, 25 degrees and perfectly clear skys. After we finished at the suit shop we decided to head out to a friends for some beers and I couldn't get her to start. She would turn over but not fire. My other friend came over and started rubbing the car (jokingly) and saying "Come on Mayday, you can do it." BAM, she started right up. I asked about the name and he referenced this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Girl We all laughed but I was not sold on the name until we went to leave my buddy's house after the beers. Again she had a hard time starting so he came running out and started rubbing the car and calling it Mayday again. Instantly started
So considering the starting issues (and I am sure many more issues to come) and the 'Spider" reference, I think I have now settled on Mayday!

Re: Spider Names
Mayday, that's brilliant (on so many levels).
And now I'll know the answer to that trivia question to boot.

Re: Spider Names
Now that I have my name selected, I want to get a small vinyl decal put on the car. I have narrowed it down to the following. Which do you like best?
As far as placement I was thinking one of the following spots. Which is better?

I like the thinner script too, and if you had a stripe it would be perfect at the end in area 3.
My 72 and 71 Spiders' names are Don and Juan. They are my play toys when Ron's away.

Re: Spider Names
My wife named our Spider. Based on styling, she refers to our new beauty as my "Piccolo Ferrari". She has no idea about the Pininfarina connection or how accurate "PF" is as a nickname.

Re: Spider Names
Her given name is "Carlita" which I think translates to "Little Car" but I usually just refer to her as "The Mistress." I enjoy seeing people stop behind me at a traffic light pull out their phones and take a picture. It makes them smile and it makes me smile too.

Re: Spider Names
When I got my 68, it was full of bondo, it was orange, blowing smoke and awfull loud. I was calling it OJ.
When I got it back from the bodyshop, back to its original red, had replaced the head gasket, and left the loud muffler on, (it's a deer deterent officer) a French friend of mine said the car was now "tres jolie" (translation...very pretty).
Ever since then she has been known as "Angelina".
And yes once Brad is done with her...
Bucket list!
