In my opinion owners of chrome engine cars care more about the look than performance. There is a reason why race cars and production cars have flat black engines and paint the exhaust and intake manifolds white = heat dissipation and absorption. Chrome is terrible at both, it will look great but the engine may not perform as intended. I like to drive my car and listen to the engine, not spend the weekend polishing the chrome on the water pump. But to each his own.
Rodman, not to be chicken little, but the metal is typically 1mm-1.6mm thick and everything is spot welded together. If you grind down the surface of the metal to eliminate the spot weld puddles there may not be much metal left. Looks trump performance.
