Re: CS1 Door Refurbishment
Hi,
I finally got around to this, and wish I hadn't gone too far...
Found minimal surface rust in pass door only, pleasant surprise.
After several evenings fettling, I've trimmed the gaskets to the point where they probably won't seal, the drivers vent window will close but the latch has to be in jeopardy, the passenger won't yet close at all.
...Buy a set of frames with nicer than you have gaskets; enjoy your car rather than slave to it.
The new panels (IAP, with sills dyed black) with the old gaskets would have been just fine, they are magnificent.
IAP cards clip holes don't align with the plastic door plugs, the arm rests seem to hold them fine so far without other screws.
Felting I paid a ton for from another vendor who will never be used again is crap, doesn't even try to look oem and segmented metal core disallows precision hole drilling/alignment; Another lesson in profiteering.
Couldn't get the loose pass door lock rod reattached in an afternoon.
Can't get the driver's outer trim to reseat properly yet.
But, aside from the dash, console and kick panels my interior is new/refurbished, and looks great.
Ciao,
Mark
