Well done to the digital artist that worked it over.
I totally agree! That car is absolutely gorgeous! I want one. I want one NOW!

I just studied both pics again. I didn't see all the work done on the top one at first glance, I thought it was just the front. It REALLY is a beautiful job! I like the top car so much better than the original one below it. I always thought the little dip of the top line at the door was reminiscent of a woman's hip lying on her side. I'm sure that's what the designers at Pininfarina had in mind. The photoshopped pic does a great job picking up that little detail. Very sexy looking car compared to the "real" one.

The issue here is the availability of a drive train. Does FIAT have any rear-wheel drive cars in production?

Remember that the 124 Spider was made by modifying a basic, already in mass production, 124 sedan. Without such a floor an and drive train already available the cost of developing the vehicle would likely be greater than the potential reward.

Sad but true.

It would be a hit, even in FWD with the Abarth 160 HP 1.4 turbo in it, and maybe with a 200HP or so upgrade "sport" version..

... and smaller retro wheels (how about 15" CD3's or CD30's?) and a horizontal chrome trim piece like our cars. Separate, round tail lamps and turn signals with a matte black insert, like the Ferrari.

Seriously, why are they d#ck#ng around with a rehabbed Punto, when they could have established a real foothold in the USA with a mid-engined, rear-drive roadster? A legitimate successor to the X1/9 and Spider. :?:

John, did you give him the links to this and other forums that are discussing the 500?

Yesterday I stopped in at Clemente's (long time Fiat & Alfa place) in Vancouver and had a chat with Geo. We got around to discussing the 500 and he put a "kit" on a 500 sport for a dealer, lower, shrouds ect. but he mentioned the dealer he did the car for was only getting 2 (two) abarths later in the spring. I don't believe there are many Chrysler dealers in the lower mainland selling the Fiat (population somewhere north of 3 mil) and if they are rationing the cars, I can see the dealers almost auctioning the cars off much like the issue when the Miata made its debut here years ago. MSRP was 13,000 but the dealers were selling cars customers ordered for $18,000 +. Abarth msrp Geo figured was going to be around $25,000.00 here in BC, interesting what the dealers will sell them for.

Sure did! I also sent it to Fiat customer service and they replied that they'd forward my e-mail to the appropriate department. Hopefully, they'll listen.
