Talked to our club paint and body guy. He said he can fix all that ill's the body and floor pans for a very fair price. Wife still says I can't keep it. Needs brakes and a going over in the engine compartment. Also needs a top. Much to ponder.

Well we had a Burgers, Beer and Fiats night at my house. All the usual suspects in attendance. After much poking around, head shaking and harrumphing the 79 was consigned to the parts car grave yard. Too bad it could not be saved. So now I have a running parts car. I do have a few small parts promised out to site members. Anyone need anything let me know.

This is what happens when I go to church on a Thursday? I should have lit a candle for the '79.

You guys are hillarious if I could find another fiat in Manitoba, CANADA as a parts car it would be mine so quick and here you are talking about multiple parts cars and knowing people that actually own a fiat craziness and so jealous. Well just to make it clear the cars that you guys call parts cars is probably in the same shape as mine in my garage lol. Love FIATSPIDER>COM best sources for fiat fixes, ideas and just to get to know other people who love their Fiats. Cheers Rob

We were unable to save the 79    But now have a whole bunch of spare parts :D
Funny thing happened the other day. I put an add on Craigs list to sell our old kitchen table. The buyer came to pick up the table and saw my spiders in the driveway. Told me he had a 1980 spider that he was going to sell for parts. I bet you can guess what happened. You are correct. Scott was nice enough to pick up the spider and drop it off here at my house on Saturday in the early am. Scott tells me that he thinks that this one is a keeper. The po said he has had the engine rebuilt and then the car sat for 10 years. Will be standing by to let it soak in and then see if it will turn over. More to follow.

Oh yes,
Forgot to mention that we had placed Marvel Mystery Oil down the sparkplug holes. Standing by to let it do it's magic.

Save the 79 is now save the 80!!!!

The 80 would turn over but we could not get spark. Replaced the magnetic pickup (Looked like something was living in the dist cap) and installed a new control module. Carb linkage is bent. Little gas down the carb and it started right up. Gas tank looks very clean. Has a new clean fuel filter on it. Carb also looks clean. Waiting to hear from the paint and body guy. Has plenty of body rust but looks repairable. We shall see
