i will try to milk the school for all their worth. We have to pay our football coach first thought. :) i have the engine in the shop now. i have to machine a part that connects from the fiat crankshaft to the dyno before any testing can be done. yes the machine shop at the school can balance accurately to like +- 1 gram or something ridiculous like that.

Being reading up a lot on these posts and gets me more and more interesting in tearing my motor down this winter.

So you go to school in Tuscaloosa? Roll Tide. ;) I live up near Guntersville and work in Huntsville for an Aerospace Contractor as a CMM programming Engineer. If you need anything measured, let me know, I have a new Sheffield Endeavor 2 12.30.10 (1.2 meters by 3 meters by 1 meter X,Y,Z) with full scanning capabilities accurate to .0002 inch.

I have worked on "junk" my whole life, if it doesnt run, I can make it run, but when it comes to building performance or an actual rebuild, it is all new to me, I am more of a body and mods person truly. I plan on starting a post asking for some advice and what and where to get some supplies I will need and would appreciate if you chimed in, seems you guys are very knowledgeable and lord knows I will need all the help I can get.

Great post, really excited for your project.

Yea we have a coordinate measuring machine on campus as well. i love going and playing with that thing. im not for sure of the make and model, but its pretty nasty when it comes to accuracy. its so funny we have that insanely expensive machine hooked up to a computer with a pentium 2 processor running win2k. it makes me laugh.

The more i look into this, i literally could spend the rest of life perfecting a fiat motor. all i have is a semester. not to mention it is football season and that means we have 6 day weeks around here. i believe ill go with a 2l 8v head with big valves. (not for sure on how big yet) probably wont get my 200 hp but i will get some good data and hopefully be able to compare output with different modifications. as far as an intake manifold, i have a set of 40mm ITB's and a waffle manifold.
