I like to leave the place a little better than I found it for my children and grandchildren so preventing unnecessary venting of gasoline into the atmosphere is the responsible thing to do regardless of whether the car will run with or without the unit. Also helps prevent flashing of gas vapors under the hood which is also a good thing. Trying to be a good steward of the planet as best I can and set a good example for my kids. Lets face it we've in general messed the place up enough already and hopefully the landlord doesn't show up some day to evict us.
