You fill the idler with the same fluid as the steering box. Should be no issue with removing the brake booster with the master cylinder still attached.

some guys remove the booster while its off
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

Removed idler cap and found heavy grease? what should i do?

clean it out with decil real good
and put in gear oil
or replace the heavy grease

mine fryed up with the header
before i wraped it

but i had a spare
when you do everything correct people arent sure youve done anything at all (futurama)

Cleaned out best I could and then filled with 90 weight.

the idler was originaly filled with a fish oil, as the viscosity does not change with temperature, once you open it up it will be aparent. i do not recomend 90wt, way to heavy, if you must use a mineral oil, i would use a hydrolic oil, the steering will be very heavy with 90wt... over the years i rebuilt 100's of these and replacing the lower seal and 30wt hydrolic oil worked very well

Finally got my new dash installed, new gauges wired and new 15" steering wheel.

Well.....after a 2 month wait....the engine house begins work on my stuff!


Working out plans for an exhaust system currently and going through all the wiring. Slow going.....but progress.

Finallygot my block back from the machine shop with new pistons installed....now maybe I can get this project moving again. Anyone know how to put an engine together :)
