Faux Spring
It seems that Northern California gets a few days of faux spring in January every year. Today was one of those days. It was great to throw the top down and go for a nice drive in the sunshine. My daughter and I didn't even have coats on and we were nice and comfortable with the wind in our hair. After months of fog and rain, this has been a real blessing today. The car was running flawlessly and it was such a joy watching everyone else stuck inside their hardtops. Ahhhhhh.

We had a break in the weather today, too. I decided to take the spider for a spin around the neighborhood and found myself turning up one of my favorite little twisty roads. Wound up driving around for about half an hour. The high today was only 49 degrees but I could've sworn it was at least 50.

Great looking roads, Zippy!
We had one day since the middle of November in the mid 50's, which is very unusual since we're used to mid 50s for an average. This is the longest dang winter I've spent in years! I should have done something that is usually unnecessary in the Deep South: winterize my Fiats.
We're expecting more crappy weather this week. When will it ever end?

Burr, think I’ll throw a blanket over the Spider, she looks cold in the garage.

Hey Spidernut.
I had the same thought and did the same thing.
After I fixed the driver side window cable that snapped Friday night.
Today looks promising also.
Got a new windshield going in. Might have to do a test drive once it's done.
Stop by the Sacramento Area Modelers field on Florin road when you go out for a Sunday drive.
I'll be there most Sundays from 11AM to about 3PM. I've been using the Spider for my trips to the flying field.
Of course I can only bring one plane with me.

Re: Faux Spring
I looked up the field. Looks like nice complex for RCs. That's about 50 minutes to an hour from my place. With the right weather, that might be a fun ride. Most of the time, I just drive locally. My rides aren't as fun as they were when I lived near Grass Valley. There are some great roads up off of Highway 49 that make fantastic summer drives. Thanks for the invite. I greatly appreciate it. I've been wanting to get some of the Spider owners together in our area, but never seem to find enough interest. The airpark might be a good meeting place if we can convince a few folks to get together.

Must be nice, it's a frigid -42F this morning when taking the dog out for a walk. The weather network is advising to stay indoors as exposed skin freezes in a few minutes... it's too damn cold for it to even snow! So much for global warming! On a positive, 2 months from now, I should be getting my spider out.

Re: Faux Spring
No offense my Canadian friends, but I do not envy you for your weather.
And Spidernut, that sounds like it could be a fun thing to do. Add to that that you could also meet another gent named Sergio.
He is my good RC friend that races and flies RC warbirds with me and also advised me to go ahead with the acquisition of this Spider. You see, he has been to Italy for schooling as a mechanic on many cars names end in "i" or "a". I'll be out next Sunday, weather permitting.
