Hey all
I am restoring my 79 fiat spider which is currently at the paint shop and realized i do not have all the boot cover parts infact i have no idea how it is connected and what is missing to make it connect right. I have the hooks for the body and know where the boot attachs to on the inside pannels but where do the snaps connect to? and what do the straps connect to? Does anyone have some pictures of this area so i have an idea of what it looks like? and pics of the right parts i need to complete the job. The previous owner custom setup the boot cover and it was not a good job he put snaps in the cover that were not stock to hold it on and messed up the body by drilling and placeing snaps to make it stay down. I have had these repaired. I want to get this as stock as possible. I am even missing the hardware for the rear inner pannels. Thanks

Re: Boot Cover setup?
The snaps go on the rear interior quarter panels. I'm looking to see if I have pics.

The snaps fasten at the top front corners of the rear interior quarter panels, like this:
The rubber strap is visible at the bottom of this picture where it is permanently fastened to a stud at the rear of the quarter panel. The other end rests on a stud near the front (as seen in the first picture), when not in use. When the top is lowered and before installing the boot, stretch the free end of the strap over the clamp on the leading edge of the top.

What makes the front top edge square like in the picture? Also what clamp are you referring to is that the latch that holds the top to the front windshield?

Re: Boot Cover setup?
There's a moulded plastic piece that fits inside the sleeve at the leading edge of the boot, making it firm and squared off. It has a moulded hook built into it, that catches a shaft inside the quarter panel to secure the front of the boot. I hope you haven't lost those, because they're unique and may be hard to find. Yes, it's the top latch I was referring to.
