Australian brothers please check in!
I know it's a big country and I just want to know everyone is safe and sound with all the flooding going on in certain areas.

Think the disasters are in the North East- Brisbane area
Curly is in the south and perthling is on the west coast. Not sure of the others though. Your right they have had a real rough go the past few years.
Thoughts are for them and others well being

Re: Australian brothers please check in!
Thanks for your concerns - it seems like only yesterday we were devestated by bushfires down here in the south east, and now there are massive floods up north in Queenslamd and more fires over on the west coast near Perthling.
We've had a unusually wet year down here in Gippsland, following on from 15 years of drought, and all the farmers and gardeners are very happy. The place is so green and picturesque.
The floods in Queensland are having a high economic cost as well as a social one. Many export crops of tropical fruits (bananas, pineapples, mangos etc) as well as sugar and massive amounts of coal come from that region, but nothing is moving at the moment.
On a Fiat perspective, this coming weekend is our National Fiat Meeting at Goulburn, New South Wales (3 hours west of Sydney). Enthusiasts from all over the country converge at Wakefield Park race track for 3 days of competion, concours and socialising. With so many roads closed, it might be difficult for some of the northerners to make it this year - but I'm sure they'll give it a damn good try.

Re: Australian brothers please check in!
Over in the West it's just been our driest winter and spring on record. But up in Carnarvon (about 9 hours drive north from Perth, the capital of Western Australia) they have also had major floods and destroyed a lot of the fruit growing region. Fortunately not as bad as what is currently unfolding in Queensland. The images are quite shocking.

Re: Australian brothers please check in!
Brisbane's a similar sized city to Perth (which also has a river running through the middle of it). It's quite staggering to look at the devastation and loss of life and think that a similar thing could happen here.
I've checked in with all my Queensland-based friends and they are all doing okay so far. But our thoughts are with those who have now lost homes, possessions and loved ones.
