Small Bumpers:
I'm considering a trade of my '76 F100 for a '74 Spider, and I see that it has the early chrome bumpers that the owner swears are original, but I have my doubts. They look like they're attached to the gas shocks of the '74 & up style of bumper. Am I wrong?

74,s had small bumpers, but were mounted different then earlier cars.

They were mounted on gas like shocks, not the blades of a 73 and earlier. The 74 was a confused little puppy, but one of the most sought after due to the 34 DMSA carb and 1800 engine.

CDC Reports new virus spreading across the country!
The Center for Disease Control reported today that a rare disease first documented in Clermont, Fl and then in Winston-Salem, NC has spread to Eugene, OR. The people infected have the uncontrollable urge to acquire Fiat cars. This disease is highly contagious and anyone considering buying a car should use extreme care when viewing a Fiat. The disease is contracted by contact, sight, smell and sound. It appears that even the rumor of an early car with original bumpers can cause a high fever, flushing and a strong urge to buy.

I have a '74 and the Bumpers shocks are old school. They have a rubber shock absorber mounted over a shaft welded to the back end of the car. The shaft slides through a tube that brackets the rubber bumper. They wouldn't do much in an accident. They are also a pain to get undone as the retaining nut is usually rusted on solid. I twisted one shaft off the back of the car and twisted the threads off on the other side. Had to get a machine shop to make new shafts and weld them back on.
