According to my PPG paint book, #856 is called Brown Poly. The color swatch is a medium brown metallic. PPG paint code is 24793.

I was thinking of going orange.
Was this ever a stock color?

Since I can't afford to buy or maintain an Aston Martin I plan to live vicariously through my Fiat and paint it Silver Birch (the color of James Bond's DB5 in Goldfinger). I have red interior which should look good with the paint color. Nailing down the paint code is half of the work.

There was a bright orange in 72-74 Fiat code 558 and PPG code 60708
Then there was a Mexico orange in 79 Fiat code 201 and PPG code 60952.

Aston Martin silver birch code is 1027. Can you tell I just found my old paint books?

That's not the color I was thinking of, but thanks anyway, someone must have painted the car twice before I got it. because now its orange, but under the door panel and in the gas cap area there is a little bit of a Dark blue (which is the color I wanted) and was hoping that was the original so it would be easy to identify. no such luck i guess. :x

i was hoping to paint it that dark blue and give it a nice metal flake to go along with it, but I guess I'll just have to find the closest blue I can and be happy with it. :P

I agree that the color you choose should be what you like, but given the high cost of a quality paint job, it can be an agonizing decision to pull the trigger on, because there are many good choices available. With that said, I have found that there are a limited number of options for paint colors that really stand out in a crowd.

The Fiats that I have seen that stood out for me were black, orange, and yellow.

It's a decision worth taking your time on.

Check out this site:

http://www.glasurit.com/COLOR/new-color ... language=1

Type in 558 for code, then find Fiat for manufacturer. It will bring up the color.

This is the only pic I have of an orange Spider. It doesn't give the color justice. This car is absolutely beautiful:

Shane 124, The code for my dark blue '76 is 0449. The code's on a tag that's on the upper portion of the firewall near the center.

According to my PPG paint book, #856 is called Brown Poly. The color swatch is a medium brown metallic. PPG paint code is 24793.
but my car is still a long way frm paint so i'll have alot kof time to decide what color I want it. I was hoping to go original but... brown(no thanks!!!)

I haven't been on this site since it was overhauled. Clearly this is the place to be. :)
Did a search on painting because mine will need a paint job.
My 81 Spider is brown, like in the brochure for that year. I have toyed with the idea of changing it. Maybe silver, or that Azzuro Blue or the "Gray" that looks light green.
I keep coming back to leaving it original. Hey, brown is even making comeback (a little).
What I would like to do is have the color blended properly though.
Original paint from the factory looks more bronze than dark brown.. Every repaint comes out more dark brown. I'd like to replicate that factory color.
