Mechanic's Creeper

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a creeper?

I was looking at this one:

I prefer the ones that are as low as possible, but it sorta depends on how high you can raise your car

I'm with Marc on this. Find a low-slung creeper, wherre the wheels are out-board and the creeper barely clears the floor.
And for all the rest of what that one does: buy a 5-gal bucket and invert it.

+1

I got this one:

and for bench/seat:

54.00 for both... after squating to work the cars and needing knee surgery, I don't squat anymore and avoid using cans or buckets that can slide out under you... :( I am not 16 anymore, lol

I don't have any kind of lift, so I'm generally working under the car on jack stands. Rarely does it get up high enough for me to use my creeper - it always ends up hanging on the wall while I slide around under the car on the ground.

I have an old wooden creeper with the angled metal wheels. It is fairly low slung but because my car is lowered it is difficult to use even with the car on the jacks as high as they will go. Most of the time I throw an old piece of carpet under the car to keep clean and slide around a little eaisier. It's not as cold either. I mostly use the creeper when working on my pickup.

I have a pretty nice one, but never use it. I just seems to be more of a hassle than a benefit. Now if I could just find a way not to have to get up and down 400 times everytime I work under a car I'll be happy, (car lift) Maybe I can train the dog to bring tools? I did put all of my sockets on one board and that helped a little. I'm not messing around with any of the low height lifts, I'll just have to hold out until I can build a shop and get a full height one.

Dog Bone Creeper here. Low, stable and goes over stuff fairly easily due to the large wheels. Not cheap, but I actually use it because it is low enough and doesn't get stopped by the cord of my drop light, unlike the cheap ones I've had before.

For me creepers have limited use. I like "movers quilts" and or foam pads that are made for floors. I dislike the way creepers move when I am trying to force someting. I bought a "seat" cover for a 5 gallon pail and think its handy.

Something to watch out for with a creeper.
Try to get one with the casters placed a couple inches in from the edge of the frame.
I have had the casters pinch my arm flesh between the frame or between the wheel and its axle frame in the past.
It hurts like hell.

This one for $25.99 at Harbor Freight works well depending on height of jacks and width of individual under car.

That king crawler from northern looks cool. I have 2 creepers right now, an old wooden one that gets stuck on everything, and one I got from that big speed shop that always send out huge catalogs. The new one has magnetic trays on both sides for tools and is comfortable. For those of you that say you cant get your car up high enough to use your creeper, you need taller jack stands. They are not that expensive. When I dont set my car up on the taller stands, i use 4' x 4' pieces of cardboard that I take from work when they are being thrown away. Very easy to store between the roll away and the wall, slides easily on the floor, great for oil changes, when soiled simply trash it and grab another piece.
