I am looking for new rear springs for a 1971 Spider, can anyone recommend a source?
Most vendors only offer 1975-85 rear springs. What is the difference?
Help, where to get 1971 Spider rear springs?

The early model springs have a lower spring rate than the newer ones since the early cars weigh so much less. You'll probably have a jacked up rear end if you replace yours with a later style. Why do you want to replace them?

Re: Help, where to get 1971 Spider rear springs?
When I inspected the rear suspension I noticed that there were some spacers installed between one of the coils, I suspect that maybe there was too much sag or someone may have cut off too many coils and the rear was too low. I just don't like or trust these spacers, metal channels with threaded rod between them, so I was considering new rear springs and probably shocks while I am there (you know how it goes).
So if I understand correctly, the later model rear springs will fit, but the rear may sit high? Right?

Just a suggestion but perhaps try and source a used set from, in a perfect world, a rusty(parting out) low milage early car and get new KYB shocks. I believe they would work fine for day to day driving for many years.

Some pics of other's wheels might help in your quest. Mark Allison sells Rota wheels that seem to be popular. I tend to stick with period correct wheels on my chrome bumper cars.
