Cracked pads on disc brakes

Pads are not that old, Ive replaced them a few times and this has not happened before. They are the front brakes on my girlfriends 02 montero. I would asume they are overheating, but why. Could be defective pads.

improper break-in, heavy foot, rear brakes not working, bad driving habits, terrorist plot, Take your pick

Simpler then that'd good lookin woman driver. Should they be o k to keep using? I would hope so.

I think 3 of the four front pads had cracks. They werent huge, but they were, are there. Some pads have one crack some have two. The pads come with a grove splitting them the short way. The cracks run the same direction 1/4 up the pad and 3/4s up the pad. I took them apart for inspection because she was complaining that they were getting noisey. i didnt find anything wrong other then the cracks. i lightly sanded the pads to clean them up, relubed the moving parts and threw it back together Sunday afternoon.
