annual pre christmas weather check

Post by narfire »

Watching the news/weather local, national, north america and international, just wondering how's everyone doing.
Bruce's(courtenay) area I saw just recieved 150mm rain in 24 hours ( about 6 inches), no wonder spider jim went south. Southern Ontario just got whacked and I believe no top down in the north eastern states at the moment.
Now Beek, if I see a picture of a top down fiat next to a palm tree.....Same for Matt....
Have'nt heard from Tappy in quite some time, the euopean lads sound a bit cold and damp as well, even "jolly old" is covered.
After a deep freeze last week, we are currently in the rain shadow of the coast mountains and the weather here today was warm and sunny. :P

Last weekend here in Houston we had the spider out all weekend with top down. Sunny with highs in the 60's and lower 70's. Several of us made it to a car show Saturday morning, and I drove the spider as my driver the rest of the weekend. The temps have dropped a bit today, but by the weekend it will spider weather again. :D

glub...glub...glub...Oh well, at least we don't have to shovel the rain!! And since I'm currently laid up after going through a knee replacement operation, the weather really doesn't matter. My newest best friend is my recliner!! My Fiat is resting comfortably under its blanket in its nice new, dry, garage.

Nearly four weeks with -12 deg C (10 F). 12 inches of snow, foregast predicts more coming this weekend.

We got 3" of snow that doesn't want to go away with highs in the upper 20's. We've been colder in the South than in the Northeast a few days this week! We're expecting another storm Monday so I better get the Christmas shopping done!

Welcome to Ohio, Denise! Pretty much the same weather up here. It seems to be cold everywhere. I was in the UK last week and it snowed so much that my flight was diverted to a different city! The Brits are equipped to deal with snow the way we are up North here.

It's been cold here but no snow yet. We typically have snow on the ground from Thanksgiving right on through April making this winter odd, but welcome. No snow = no road salt = more driving!

We missed the dump they got in southern Ontario. We've only had about an inch, spread over a couple of days. Temperatures are just below freezing, except last night which was -14 C (about 7 F). I haven't had the Spider out since Nov 10, but I drove the Porsche on Dec 2 - windows closed! Normally our winter starts about Nov 1, so I'm ahead of the game.

Something's not fair. Maine has no snow, but NC does? What's up with that? I don't even put my Fiats away for the winter cuz I can usually drive them throughout the season.

Bruce, glad the knee will be better than new before long. I'm in for one of those operations I suspect in a few years as well. Exersise ? 12 oz curls :P
This rain shadow effect we have here is great, a bit windy at times but clear and dry. too bad I've let the insurance expire (have storage ins. though)

Steve, the wheels look great on your car, great budget restoration. A member in our fire dept. bought a place in Indio last year. I was trying to get him to buy a fiat from Mark for driving top down to the golf courses. He ended up buying a BMW 328 convertable for $9 thou. Two weeks later the steering pump packed it in and was a $3500 fix... shoulda bought a fiat in fact could have bought several. The weather there is sunny and warm at the moment as well.

The weather has been brutal here. Highs have only been in the upper 70's all week.

Ah, sorry.... I remember putting the FIAT up on jack stands in the corner of the garage the end of October each year.
Then the annual Thanksgiving tradition was getting 300' of snow fence up to fight off the lake effect snow in northern Pa each year until I could take it down in April. Don't miss it....

Twenties in Times Square this week. The wind whips from everywhere, and the sun rarely makes it thru the skyscrapers, but what a great time of the year to be there!
