I need a steering box for my '69, can you help?

Thanks to all for the help with my Spider so far. I wish I knew more so I could give back, and when I do, I will. Until then, if any of you want to know anything about specialty coffee, or commercial espresso machine mechanics, I'm all yours...

eBay suggests a change in steering boxes in 1973, and there are a few of that variety, but none of the earlier ones. Ya got one for me? Will the later one work for mine?

I'm having the starter rebuilt, so access to the steering box is good right now, and I"ve got about a quarter inch of free-play in the box with the flat head adjusting screw all the way "adjusted".

Thanks in advance for the help.

Honestly 1/4 inch sound like a dream! My box is on it's last leg (gear or whatever) and I have significantly more that 1/4 inch play at the steering wheel.

As for your actual question of will it fit, I have no idea. Sorry. I just wanted to caution you not to expect a great improvement over what you already have even with a brand new steering box.

Whoops, I meant a quarter turn! It's bad enough that I don't dare take the car much past 80 on the freeway. It's making the difference between car, and sports car.

Wow I guess I should be glad as I was thinking my steering felt loose with about a inch of play side to side before anything engages. I would say about the only way to get what you probably want in the way of positive wheel feed back and vertually no play would be to install a racknpinion from the later model car that came with one or to figure out how to fab one up to work.
