Re: US version of Top Gear, anyone?
I've sat in a Bell 209 at an airshow and that aircraft would be fun to take for a " spin". That pilot was good.(as most attack helicopter pilots are)
I don't think the show would do it for me either. The clips make it a bit silly for my tastes, perhaps if I was 40 years younger.
I'll catch the original whenever I can thank you.

It sucked. They're trying to hard to be clever through the whole show and it just doesn't work unless you have a British accent.

Interesting
We're in our third season of Australian Top Gear, and every season they had to change the hosts, only one of the original hosts made it through all the seasons and he's the only 'racing car driver'.
Here in Australia the comments are much the same "They're trying to hard to copy the humour of the UK show" without the delivery.

Re: US version of Top Gear, anyone?
Why don't they just air the original over here on the History Channel? Besides, what's historical about Top Gear anyway?

Same here. Just didn't think it was any good. The hosts came off as doofuses instead of clever. I think the British version is on one of the cable channels already (not sure which). Plus, there's a lot of content you can watch online. The US version has a LOT of work to do if it's going to make it.

No point in trying to do any other Top Gear unless you can get Jeremy Clarkson to host. He makes the show.

Poorly done, they worked way too hard to script their "witty banter." It sounded a lot like the awards show hosts fake conversations with each other. How about some guys who really seem to be enjoying themselves playing around with some cool cars?

Leave it to Hollywood to take a perfectly good product and screw it up. Yuk.

Here in Norway, instead of replays of the british series they have started to show the Australian Top Gear.adrians wrote:We're in our third season of Australian Top Gear

Not my cup of tea.
I have to admit I have a weak spot for 'Fifth Gear' with Tiff Needell & Vicky Henderson. Tiff's a better driver than Clarckson & co. But they're nowhere near the fun.

Re: US version of Top Gear, anyone?
It could do a lot better.
Maybe if they got Tim Allen, Jay Leno and a personable NASCAR driver as hosts....
Then send them over to England and give them a challenge to purchase some old clap trap british cars for pseudo racing and enduro competitions. Have a leg of the challenge where they paint disparaging remarks about bad dental hygiene, mutton and warm beer and drive thru sensitive areas of the English countryside.......
Then just maybe there's hope.
Oh and Tim Allen would have to take frequent pot shots at the English culture and history as often as possible.
