shift gate

Post by Zmatt »

It just occured to me, i have yet to see a 124 with a gated shifter. Which seems odd because gated shifters are about italian as can be. Does anyone make them, or has anyone made their own?

Here's a great thread on gated shifters on a Miata forum. Lots of discussion of why and why not.

Never seen one for a Fiat, but it sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to fab up if you really wanted to try it.

I just started to put a shift gate in mine I've already installed the 2/8 stainless rod for the shifter it is very nice it got rid of all the slop in the gear pattern I will get a pic posted I'm working on a Ferrari style gate from stainless right now. I like the idea on the car above but I would like to go with the ferrari 250 dash soon just have to figure out the radio set up. Not that I really even need a raido.

Looks like a 124 to me, you can see the door handle in the picture. I think the "chink chink" of the shifter would be a welcome sound, and they just look cool.
