what's next?

Post by mbouse »

ok. so i have done the following, listed in relative cronoligical order:
1. replaced stock muffler with dual tip ANSA
2. eliminated catalytic converter
3. eliminated air pump and blocked off port at head
4. dumped the stock intake for a 1976 1800 intake
5. dumped the 28/32 wheezy carb for a 32/36 brand new Weber
6. changed to a 1973 4-2-1 exhaust and downpipe
7. added a rear anti-sway bar
8. replaced stock air breather with a rectangular "performance" 2 1/2" filter kit

i intend to dump the two ton rock solid tube bumpers soon. that will probably happen some time this driving season.

i'm still gettin' the feeling that i'm draggin' a boat anchor.

Other than going without socks and some unmentionables to lighten the load, what is next?

make sure the engine is in perfect tune; jetting, timing and advance, valve adj.
Ensure the brakes release completely and aren't dragging, repack and properly adjust front wheel bearings, make sure front end alignment is proper so the tires are rolling and not scuffing.

How did that rear sway bar affect the handling of the car, Mike? I've got one but haven't decided on using it.
