
I gotta think bumpers from VW Beatles and other popular cars of the era would have been tried on a Spider. You'd think that even some US compact cars would be eligible donors; parts for them are way less expensive as the restoration hobby has grown.
Don't forget that they look completely awesome! I've thought about trying some smaller bumpers on my car, but I'll probably wait until I get some more spare time to start researching it. The tube bumpers are kind of growing on me (for some reason). I think it's just unique. I don't know if this is typical but when I removed my bumpers the reduced weight raised my car about 1-2". I run 15s but it still had to be lowered a lot to acheive the stance I was looking for.wikkid wrote:This debate goes on inside my crazed head as well, with an '84.
I will no doubt either remove them, ro "tuck" them, as this guydid (drill a hole in the shock tubes, drain out the fluid, push them back tight into the body, and screw in a self-tapping to hold that position).
