chrome rocker covers

Hey,I'm new to the post but have followed for a while. Every once in a while I see a fiat on line that has chrome trim covering the entire rocker panel. I really like this look but don't know if it is a rare dealer option or an aftermarket option. Does anybody know where to get them? thanks for any help you may have and glad to finally be aboard.!

I think they sold aftermarket covers at one time. Maybe you could get some of the chrome tape stuff they put on pickups?

On ebay there is a light brown 79 2000 spider with only 60k that has the covers i'm talking about, from the side they seem to follow the lines of the originals pretty close, which led me to believe they were an option. Hope this helps.

I don't believe that Fiat ever offered chrome plated cam box covers. Several folks have polished their stock (aluminum) ones up very nicely. There's also a powder coat that yields a glossy silver finish.

That brown car has a lot of trim: not only the rockers, but also the edges of the wheel wells and the side strips like the red Pininfarina at the top of this page. Plus, pinstriping as well!
It all looks more like protective, rather than decorative, trim.

I had one chrome rocker panel that I gave to Mark Allison (moderator of this Forum) a year or tow ago. Don't know if he would still have it. It's only one side, and I can't remember which (driver or passenger).

I have one on my car on the drivers side. Its actually aluminum and riveted or bolted on. Wether a dealer add on or aftermarket, your only current source would be from someone parting out a car that has one.

My 68 had the ribbed aluminum rocker covers on it. I doubt it was stock since I rarely see them on cars, even in books.

I've been very tempted in getting my rocker covers chrome plated along with my alloy timing belt cover. I've managed to buff them and polish the up to a decent 'mirrored' state but due to the engine bay heat they tarnish over time and need redoing all over again. Looks fantastic when done though.

I don't know where your located but it's cheaper for me to send stuff to SoCal Mark in California. He gets the stuff plated there. I'm in NJ.

hey, just an observation here, but at least two posters above are discussing cam-box covers (which on a push-rod engine would be called a rocker-cover) but the thread is actually about the rocker PANEL covers, otherwise known as a door-sill thing-a-ma-jig.

Just to add a bit more confusion to this post.. and I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong...

The OP started out asking about the rocker covers on the outside of the lower body below the door...then there was talk about the engine valve covers being polished .. and the last 2 were about the door sill covers that are not visible from the outside of the car....

I was also mistaken originally... that's why I deleted my original post when I realized it was about the outside lower body panel trim and not the door sill covers ...

There that should totally screw this post up ..
