In need of some encouragement

Post by wiggo »

Frost has come. Roads are salted and greasy. Snow is due soon. First Spider is sent into winter hibernation. Second Spider goes into hibernation later this week. 5 1/2 months to life reappears with nice, dry roads.
Suggestions for something positive to think about all this time? What do you folks do?

Cross-country skiing? Skating? Snowmobiling? Reading good books? Getting cars and bikes into a warm-ish place to do those "winter projects?"

I keep mine in the garage so I can go out and look at it. Nice glass of red wine and the portable heater...

I drive mine...I live in California. :) The downside of it is that I live in California with all of its lousy politics and emissions laws.

Lots of good suggestions here :D
Cross-country skiing, yes.
A glass of wine sounds good.
Moving south doesn't sound too bad, either.

Personal favourite so far is Ice racing. Used to go looking when I was young, but no events has been arranged here for over 30 years. But I'll be a spectator at the WRC round of rally i Sweden in February

That should be a great race, the first with the new rules. Care to make a prediction?

I will be sewing! That's right  "SEWING". If I don't make my interior. I'll have nothing to sit on. So all the interior has to be made this winter.

Upholstery is a quite uncommon skill at my latitude. Care for some extra jobs?

Rally; my guess is Loeb, Hirvo and Latvala, in that order. With the younger of the Solberg brothers fourth (Petter) But I will of course cheer for my countrymen Petter and Henning winning.

We've got to stop rooting for Citroen; another manufacturer's title or two and they will overtake Lancia for the most wins! I wonder how Mini will fare? Not too well, I think. Maybe I heard somewhere that they're only entering a few events.

The new formula seems perfect for Fiat. I wish they'd siphon off a few million from their F1 budget and rejoin the WRC. Ferrari would hardly notice the difference, thinking a few euros had fallen between the sofa cushions.

Winter will soon be visiting us also; the last of Autumn is upon us. I don't like raking the leaves, but I sure miss them when they're gone.

What a view you have, baltobernie! Could only be bettered with a 124 on the driveway, perhaps.

And you gave me an idea how to cope with winter 8) Combining wikkid's suggestion of 'Reading good books' with Zippy's 'Nice glass of red wine': I have a few rally books where I can dig into cars like 124 Abarth, 131 Abarth, Fulvia, Stratos, 037 and the rest. Now, THAT was a great idea!!
