Brake Question

Having some brake problems on my 76 124 . Rear calipers. Should I replace the calipers or rebuild? What should I look for to make the decision after pulling the calipers ? I hope it's a rebuild. Thanks

you can rebuild them, but the rears are a little tricky and the kits don't include the large boot to cover the e-brake arm

I agree with Mark, I replaced the rear calipers with rebuilt units. While I was at it, I replced the front calipers too. RockAuto.com has some decent prices and the brand they use is Cardone. I've had some good results with them. The car stops really straight now.

Rebuild them if you want to, but it's easier to just replace them.

Look for pitting on the piston and inner surfaces. If they are corroded/pitted past the point of making a seal between the body and piston you need to get new ones, otherwise you leak fluid and have poor braking action. I would not compromise here. If there is any doubt - replace them.

The rear calipers are APITA to put back together. Tony fought me every step of the way.
