Made it from Colorado to Sacramento!

Post by rmalicki »

I just wanted to send a big thanks for the advice for my topic "inspection for 1250". I ended up finding out that my speedo had broken and when i thought i was going 65mph it was actually 55mph. The rear end was apparently change for a previous owner to rally race. So the trip took with a lot of stops and 55 mph ave. 27 hours. I drove strait thru for the 27 hours and will never recommend ever. The car ran at 190 degrees and fully loaded (and i mean over packed) got 30 mpg. I'am amazed and how well the trip went and how amazing this little car did. So i'm naming it mighty mouse...lol...but in all seriousness this car is ridiculously fast at altitude and a total blast. Once again thank you all so much!

So are living in Sacto now? I'm in Lincoln (about 15 minutes north of Sacto) and working at Beale AFB. It'd be nice to meet another Spider owner.

congrats on a smooth trip! Isn't it surprising what great mileage you get at 55mph?

Sounds like a great trip and welcome to California. Don't forget to PM me and I'll get you in touch with a guy in Sacramento who deals in Spider parts.

If your speedo was off by 10mph, then your odometer was off also. So I think your MPG may be a little lower than you posted. I am assuming that you read the odometer for the miles to calculate.

Congrats on a successful trip.

If the rear differential gear ratios are different then doesn't that really mean your speedometer is incorrect (mis-matched for the rear in the car), not broken?

Sorry guys its been crazy with family then getting a job and looking for houses. My head is still spinning. This will be the first weekend to relax a bit. I do live right by lincoln so let and have looked at a few homes in lincoln crossing. The rear end i still have not checked. The speedo is broken and possible the mileage is off a bit but what i did is took the total number of gallons of gas divided by the 1247 miles.
