what I need to go turbo again
what I need to go turbo again
http://s1179.photobucket.com/albums/x39 ... 20project/ I have a 1981 turbo 124 spider, it is missing the turbo and the plenum and the turbo exhaust manifold. I would like to put a turbo on it. What are your suggestions. Also where dose the oil feed line for the turbo originate? I found the return spigot capped down on the pan but not sure where to look for the feed. Should I find an original exhaust manifold, or are there other options? The switches are still on the fender. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rick

Re: what I need to go turbo again
From all accounts the stock stuff really wasn't very good, certainly by today's standards. Zero engine managment for example so boost was very low.
Do a search on the forum for "megasquirt", "turbo" and "supercharger", there are some inventive members out there. You can actaully get more power from your engine than the stock turbo with other mods first. You mentioned header, add carbs or aftermarket injection management...cams....a lot to consider.
Now if you need stock or can just steal one complete that's cool, but IMHO you would get much more bang for your buck with a newer turbo and other parts.
Good luck but more important, have fun!!

Re: what I need to go turbo again
I have looked at those threads and talked to a few people. I think a turbo is the best bang for the buck. I would like to try and do this as inexpensively as possible. So I am wondering if there is anyone that has used the stock ecu and fuel set up with a newer turbo set up.

Hardest part of turboing a spider is finding/making a turbo exhaust manifold.
