I owned three 850's over the years, but in '82 I finally got a 1981 Spider 2000. It was a serious car compared to the 850s and it was essentially stock for many years. Then in 2002 I turned it into my dream Spider... lowered springs, F&R swaybars, IAP oil cooler, lightened flywheel, free-flow exhaust, Corbeau Clubman seat w/Simpson 5-pt, AutoPower roll bar, vented brake rotors, 13x7" Revolution alloys, 205/60x13s, modified F/R bumbers, removed side protector srips & chrome tim at grill, fresh coat of bright-white paint. What a blast, and it really turned heads (how do I insert pics?) 2004 was a sad year as a blown tranny and empty piggy-bank forced the sale of the "Great White". In any case, I have years of experience on this car and will be looking for one again someday. In the mean time, it will be good to discuss these wonderfull under-appreciated gems from Italy.

Re: My dream Spider
Looks like a car I dream of as well. Very nice indeed.

Re: My dream Spider
Just the vented rotors, braided brake lines and silicone fluid. After 20 years of rebuilding the calipers, I just bought new ones (stock FIAT). Reminds me of Tom Mulhall's DOHC X1/9 2.0 liter. He had Cromodora's (Ferrari Star) and somehow fitted up Lancia Scorpion front discs. I'll have to see if I can find those old pics. THAT was a fantastic car!
