Insulation and Sound Deadening - Another Product

I need hood insulation for my 76. While researching options on the internet (I'm way too cheap for Dynamat) I came across this product, EZ Cool. Looks like a small company out of Texas.

Since I'm also planning to insulate the interior sometime in the future I'm pretty intrigued by this stuff. It is actually kind of a bubble wrap between layers of aluminum but they claim the stuff doesn't pop. I sure like the price.

I requested a sample and I'll probably order a small roll since I don't have much to lose putting under the hood. Any opinions or options?

I think the underhood heat will be too much for the plastic bubbles, could be a gooey mess if it melts. I used a section of water heater insulation blanket. I bought it at home depot for a few bucks. It is that silver mylar with glass fiber insulation sandwitched between. It looks the same as that product. I cut it about 1 inch larger all around than the trapazoid holes and taped the edges with the metal duct tape. Holds up beautifully to the heat, keeps the noise down, and I have plenty more for replacments. My original wire keepers were missing so I just bent some up from some thick galvanized wire. I can get a picture later today.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think I'll probably go with your solution for my under hood mat. If I read it right you aluminium taped the edges of the mat, you didn't tape the mat to the hood. It looks like I can cut the material a little bigger than the opening then tuck them in under the metal supports. You used the heavy wire to hold them in place, similar to how we do house insulation.

They are sending me a sample of the product I mentioned above. They guarentee it won't melt under high heat. Anyway I'm pretty curious about the product. If it looks good I'll consider it for when I pull the interior and insulate it. The price is right. Not that I expect to get to that job anytime soon. Possibly this winter.

I just bought the acoustical product Eastwood sells. It's just as good as Dynamat. Go onto their site and see the video. I just received the boxes. Boy are they heavy. Two boxes weighed 50lbs. They had a 10% off and free shipping a day or two ago.

lobucrod is a member over at the HAMB. I haven't used his stuff, but have heard nothing but good from the people that have though.

We just used peel and seal for the floors in Tersta's but don't know how much of a difference it will make. We really couldn't do a before and after comparison. But the floors make a nice thunk when you hit them and hopefully the aluminum backing will keep the heat down some.
