George's new looking gauges...
George's new looking gauges...
Here are some photos of the gauges George sent me... they were dirty and oily and the crystal was either fogged or cloudy with oil/dirt... now they look great and George will be very proud to have them on his dash.
George also sent 3 clocks one for his wife's Spider:

Re: George's new looking gauges...
the second hands are different colors; one red the other orange. Do they fade to orange or were there different colors across the year range? Gauges look great though. Have you done any X gauges with the curved needles?
Re: George's new looking gauges...
Thanks all... it was great to work on these... The odometer setting is exactly as George sent it to me...
Mark... the gauge hands shows different years, and cars... I believe the one with the small second hand is a mechanical (jeweled) clock and it is a very nice clock (George hang on to this one)... the others are quartz clocks and they may be from different cars (Alfa Romeo and or Fiat Sport Coupe)... the most beautiful of all these clocks are the Ferrari clocks as they have blue glow in the dark hands and a blue plastic crystal that glows as neon at night... very nice... the other is a Mangusta clock I'm working on that I'll post pics later for everyone to see.
I have not had an X-19 dash with the gauges you mentioned come my way yet... I've had the digital clocks come my way and been restored but not the gauges you mention... are they like this:

Re: George's new looking gauges...
yes, and almost all of the needles are warped or curved
Re: George's new looking gauges...
Those indicators (curved pieces) can be remade in a cast plastic (which I do) and then painted to whatever original colors, glow in the dark, or custom colors to match the interior/exterior of the car or for that matter the color of the customers eyes... LOL
Would the clear acrylic 'curved or flat' panel (entire plastic piece) need replacing as well?
If you like to send me one for you to check the fit and function after I'm done... this gives you a indication of my restorations... after that who knows...

Re: George's new looking gauges...
HI all,
Nick does great work. I purchased these gauges from someone with a parts car. They were purchased to put in my wifes Spider. This was after I had her clock restored by Nick. Once you put in a new clock the other gauges just don't look right. BTW my wifes Spider was titled as milage unknown as the speedometer was broken. It states that on the title. My guess is it's supposed to be 116000 miles on that odometer of the gauge. I purchased these older gauges because I liked the two colors on the gauges. Gives it contrast. My gauges are next this winter.Restored but something a little different. Thanks again Nick, George
