2010 Dixie Fiatfest September 4-5

Post by mdrburchette »

The second annual Dixie Fiatfest will be held in the Winston-Salem, NC area September 4th and 5th. The date was moved to make room for FFO 2010 that was held in NC as well. It was also moved forward to take advantage of cooler weather. Of course, everyone is welcome to come on Friday and join us at Riverside Raceway Park for dirt track gokart racing action.
I'll make sure there's something in sign up if there is any interest in Friday night.

Saturday, September 4th we will have the Fiat Mini Migilia, a time/distance rally through the Blue Ridge and surrounding mountains. We will end at the Hanging Rock State park for a lunch cookout. This park is full of beautiful hiking trails, as well as a small lake to lounge around.
Saturday evening, dinner will be at The Hillbilly Hideaway ( http://www.thehillbillyhideaway.com ), one of my personal favorites for good ole' home country cooking. The music hall is included with the meal and offers three hours of gospel, bluegrass and country music played by the locals. It's a blast and guaranteed to be a good time.

Sunday, we will meet at the BB&T field parking lot at Wake Forest University for our annual autocross event. Make sure you've honed your skills to be competitive with the local BMW 2002 group. I really don't want to eat crow for yet another full year with these guys! We gotta beat em! Lunch will be served on the back of the pickup truck like last year. Make sure you don't eat pizza for at least a couple weeks before the event cuz we'll surely have plenty to go around.

Hope ya'll can make it. I'll be pm'ing all the new NC, SC and VA members to let them know about the event. If there are any questions, please feel free to email me at spyderlady71@yahoo.com

how far is it safe to drive with a red gas can + fuel hose in spout as primary fuel supply? If the answer is several thousand miles, then count me in.

I always enjoy FFO,but Fiatfest is the most fun I have had at a car event.Great venues, activities, and people. The best part is,we drive the crap out of the cars like they are built to do.No primping for a show..filler' with gas ,top off the oil(they are Fiats  ),and let er eat!If you have a chance do yourself a favor and plan to attend.Being on Labor Day weekend, you will have a extra day to ge home.

I bought my wife a cd/stereo for her X for an anniversary gift(I know...I am a hopeless romantic). This insures that while I ride in air conditioned comfort in my big black Ford truck, pulling my beautiful Spider, she will be sweating out the 4 hour trip to Fiatfest in 'AleXis',the orange X1/9.But hey,she will have some tunes :D :D :D :D

Kevin,
As a matter of fact ...I did! Install is another story. Those cars are so tight, that every little job is a challenge.I let my buddy do the timing belt, and found all 3 drive belts were shot.Had to order them as noone had them locally. All 30 year old oem parts. The car has had no maintenance at all.
Did you get that c-list post I sent you? That was a nice car,and my money is on a mag p/u or control module and it would be running. That baby has Wanda written all over it !When you get a chance,I need to talk to you re. a LeMons car.We are putting together a VW GTI over the winter. We will need a couple teammates....  See you guys at Fiatfest.

Craig,
Glad to hear you are being a proper husband and outfitting the X correctly :) !
I didn't get the CL post? Not sure why. How did you send it? I actually put a feeler out to one of the Spiders listed here, but never heard back. Can't believe I would actually consider getting another car now - I'm still getting mine finished! - Interior is now partially disassembled to get the gas gauge, wipers, etc. working. I'm also trying to track down a mystery battery drain source.
Unfortunately, Wanda and I won't be able to make FIat Fest. We promised the boys a trip to the lake house in Florida this summer and the only time we can get it in around school and soccer is Labor Day Weekend. I hate that we are going to miss it :( . As for the Lemons - count me in. Just give me a call anytime and you can give me the details.

C'mon you Spider owners,I just found out that the far superior Spiders  will be out numbered by X1/9s at Fiatfest! How can this be allowed to happen.Even our host ,Denise, will be driving the X insted of her ill running Spider!!Its not too late to sign up,and it's a non-FLU event,so no membership required. Help !!

We'll be there, but likely in a rental car unless there is a fiat owner in the area that would like me to put a few miles on their ride. It's a little much to drive ours from CA. Denise has usually had a car available -- but she has been awfully busy this year, and not enough time to spend keeping her cars going.

We are still planning on being there and with any luck will be bringing both spiders along! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone again.
