WHY DO I STINK?

Hey All!

So, I've got a funny 'problem' that doesn't bother me as much as it does my wife..... :roll:

Here's the scenario: I'm blasting down the freeway, foot in it good, everything's grand. But when I back my foot out of it, we get a powerful smell of exhaust.... that permeates our clothing... and makes me smell like I'm the "real-deal"... but my wife hates it. :lol:

I figure it's got to have something to do with the EGR / Air Pump system. ??

Any ideas?
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

I would think you'd have a lot more exhaust leaking under load than decel

"when I back my foot out of it, we get a powerful smell of exhaust" My advice would be to keep you foot on it, and keep blasting down the freeway, its more fun too.

There was a discussion on the Mira forum a while ago about the aerodynamics of the car with the top down. Some concluded that the exhaust could get kicked up over the rear trunk lid and make its way into the cabin with the top down. I don't know how much of that I believe, I drive mine every day, 90% of the time with the top down and never experienced that.

I might be in trouble! Two of the smartest fellers on the forum have responded with HEAD-SCRATCHING! :wink:

I really think it's gotta have something to do with the egr. Back-throttle causing ... i dunno.... i'm making this up.... :lol:

crankcase breather! its possable, where and how it it attached

and the crankcase breather is piped to a dumb little filter that is sitting next to the air filter. I hadn't considered this.

The exhaust just stinks, but the crankcase emissions will make your eyes water/burn.

You need to run your tail pipe 24" past the rear bumper and put an elbow facing left onto it. that should take care of it. I had to do it too. Works great :mrgreen:
