New Seats

Post by barnesjtsl »

Got some 90 Civic seats and installed them over the weekend. Had to drill 3 holes/seat. Went very well and as far as the width is concerned they fit perfect.

The only complaint I have is they are a little high. I am 6' 1". With the original seats my head was about 2 inches from the rag top. With these seats it is about .5" to 1" from the top. I lean the seat back a little and it gives me a little more room. With the top down, the top of my head is a copule of inches above the top of the windshield.

My question. How many of you guys/gals are sitting this high above the windshield? Has this been a problem for you? I love the seats, they are very comfortable and am going to keep them for a while, but I feel a little funny sitting up that high.

What replacement seats are best regarding how high the driver sits?

Thanks much,

John B

I had a PO put seats from a Fiero in mine and I'm a touch over 6'2". My head sticks over the windshield and the top is mostly down when I drive (yes even in the cold or a light rain). The only problem I run into is bugs and loosing hats. But it is kinda fun to truly have the wind in your hair... ;)

That does look really nice. My drive seat is broken next to my left hip and I need to replace it. Thinking of finding seats from a 93-97 MX6. They made some very nice leather buckets.

Looks good, like that blue. :D

I have some Corbeau racing seats in mine (PO put them in, and I like the bear hug feeling too much to re-cover the factory seats and put them back in). I too sit too high up. For the most part I don't mind, but I did take the visors off, as they got in the way more than they blocked the sun.

I'm surprised how close those seats look to the originals. Besides the blue fabric, they could pass for Spider seats.
In fact, my 2nd daily driver is an '86 Civic, and I had to go out and check to see that, yes, they are the same (except mine are vinyl). It's funny I never noticed that before.
-Good call on those seats!

Those seats look great - I assume the frame is much more substantial than the originals. Do they recline? I'm 6'4" and have to recline the seats I have now to have some headroom with the top up.
