Fiat fate?

Post by 4babycar »

For those of you that have been following or remember the saga that we (my wife started this 3 years ago...... continued from my parents 17 years ago)...... we have a new twist. Anyway, there is a spider that just popped up on CL that appears to be a near identical match to my first spider BabyCar, the one that I have been trying to replace. The car is in Athens Ga and supposedly in great shape body wise, but needs a new engine. Fate would say that this is perfect, as I still have Babycar's solid engine. Somehow, every time I buy a shell to put her engine in, it turns out to have a good engine! Two shells, that are now family spiders and this damn car pops up! Anyway, long story short, I plan on calling this gentleman to get the story but I would like to have some feet on the ground that would be willing to confirm what story I get. I am looking for a seriously solid body/paint otherwise this is a non-starter. So, if I need someone to look at the car, is there anyone willing?

In case someone may know the car, here is the listing.

Thanks!

Craig,

Thanks for the reply, although I just now got it. The seller hasn't called me back yet but I am going to keep trying. I appreciate your willingness to go take a look, an hour and a half, isn't all that close but I'll take it!

Thanks again and I will keep you posted - Michael

Michael,
I'm about 45 minutes from Athens and would be happy to go look the car over if you hear back from the seller - I can go no problem - I would even let Craig come along  .

Thanks for the offers gentlemen. I just spoke to the owner and it has surface rust and some rust bubbles so I am not interested. He is interested in find an engine though, so if you know of anyone with an usable engine he may be a buyer as he is a paint and body guy. Don't be surprised if you see him on the forum shortly.

Thanks again and I will keep looking.
