Paint shop rip-off???
Re: Paint shop rip-off???
that white is nice and sharp, and pretty jaunty, but it pales in comparison to the red beauty. That one leaps off the page!

Re: Paint shop rip-off???
Jon,
You can end up with an exceptional final result doing almost everything yourself. For my car, I did all of the "dirty" prep work like diassembly, any necessary body work, block sanding the entire body ect. I am lucky enough to have a very good friend that owns the shop she was painted in. He helped me choose the color, double checked my work - making me do it again if it wasn't perfect and doing the final sanding on any difficult surface himself. He allowed me to do the spray work on parts such as the suspension and drive shaft, but he did all of the spray work on the body. The paint used is Sikkens, pure red 394. Since I am doing the majority of the labor, I only got hit with materials cost. (still over $2000. - only used the best materials)
When doing this respray, the intent was to have the paint good enough to last 30 years so I can pass the car on to my son.
I couldn't be happier with the results. The paintwork on my car now is amazing
Good Luck!
