brake booster

Post by Dspider »

Hey y'all.... I just bought a 1978 Spider and now there is a big leak in the brake booster, which seems to be coming from behind the brake pedal on the black rubber boot. Every time I try to brake, it doesn't and accelerates instead. I am looking for the best most inexpensive solution to this problem. I am also looking into the manual conversion. Any suggestions would really be helpful. Thanks and I hope to hear from some of y'all soon.

You may be able to find someone here that has parted out a car recently and has a good, working booster. If not, then removing the booster is the next best thing and inexpensive.

Thanks all for the suggestion.
I don't know how to check one either, but if you find out that it works, let me know.

It's just a diaphragm right? See if you can draw air through it?
