Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
its going on right now, just got back, there werent even 10 cars there to dyno.
Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
those who did make the Dyno Day had a good time and most of the cars found some more hp with adjustments between runs. For the most part it was very informative and entertaining, and the bbq was good. Pics and vids will be posted soon, along with some results. The cars ranged from bone stock to various mods.

That sounds like so much fun, Mark! I may have to cajole the local shop into letting our club do something like that.
1972 124 Spider (Don)
1971 124 Spider (Juan)
1986 Bertone X19 (Blue)
1978 124 Spider Lemons racer
1974 X19 SCCA racer (Paul)
2012 500 Prima Edizione #19 (Mini Rossa)
Ever changing count of parts cars....It's a disease!

Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
it was worth the effort for those that attended, and the dyno shop guys made a few bucks too. There were 4 non-Fiats there and that made the event a little more diverse; a Porsche Cayman, BMW Z3 M, MB 500E with a 100 shot of nitrous and a Volvo. All 4 of them were putting out rear wheel hp in the 280-300 range.
Most of the interest in the Fiats was seeing what a completely stock FI 2.0 put out and seeing what hp some small changes induced.
For instance, a cone type air filter added 1 hp to a 2.0 FI car while an extra 4 degrees of initial timing added 4 more hp. Simple tweaking of the afm added between 3 to 5 hp to mostly stock FI cars. And of course, comparing a/f ratio changes with and without aftermarket air filters

Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
What happen with Hals coupe after I left?
Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
The good news was that 3PSI boost made 20HP the bad news was that it only made 3PSI boost. So far I can find no mathematical reason for less than 7PSI boost. Something mechanical will require a teardown. I guess that 79HP from a 8.2CR 1608 isn't bad either.

Thanks Mark for taking the video and getting it posted. Almost like being there, just without the fumes. I really wish I could have been there. Were those all stock motors or did any have mods?
Also, looks like luggage racks are popular there.

Re: Dyno Day in So Cal
My 82 Spider is bone stock with timing set at 10° BTDC with a stock airfilter ... here's the printout of the four pulls.

The power differences between the first pulls and last pull (in red) were due to Mark tinkering with the AFM settings.

This car also has non-functioning AC. I pulled the belt years ago, but someone replaced it when it was serviced at some point in time, so the engine was turning the compressor during the pulls. Disconnecting that belt and bumping the timing a few degrees would probably give a couple more HP.
Many thanks to Mark for setting this up. It was a VERY informative session and the cheezburgrs wuz gr8!
