Couple of questions. My 80 FI came from the PO with out a board in the trunk to cover the gas tank and spare tire so I'm making one. From pictures I've seen the board is two pieces. The one over the tank is screwed down and the one over the spare tire is removable. Is that how it came originally?
If it did, I can't figure out is how the board over the spare tire stay's suspended in the middle and around the battery box? I also don't really understand the small 1" or so tab that sticks out on the back side of the trunk. It looks like it should support both boards but is too low. Any help or pics would be appreciated.

Question about the board in the trunk
Re: Question about the board in the trunk
Hey Rick,
I've got a 79 with the board still in the trunk, I will take a picture of it in the morning if you want.

Re: Question about the board in the trunk
Hi
My 1982 Spider which I have had since new has a two piece composit (masonnite like) cover over the spare. The fixed piece is attached to the removable section by a metal clip in the center over part of the spare. The removable section rests on the trunck floor on the other three sides. Carpet ciovers all.

Re: Question about the board in the trunk
Thanks for the info. I got the boards cut for the trunk.
Can anyone tell me if there's a spacer or something that sits on this tab to support the board. The tab seems to be too low to support the board without one. Also anybody got pics of the clip pecora's referring to?
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Question about the board in the trunk
Yes there is a wood strip screwed along the edge to suport it. it sits on the tab and floats on the other side.
Re: Question about the board in the trunk
One more question? How does the carpet attach to the sides (in front of jack & fuel lines) and back (around the tail lights) of the trunk. Are there clips that hold it in place?
Thanks,
Rick
Thanks,
Rick
Re: Question about the board in the trunk
Hey Rick,
My carpet doesn't attach to anything. It is one piece and just lays in the trunk on top of the the boards.
I hope this helps.
