On my Spider, I'd like to ditch the leather boot for an old fashioned rubber accordion-type boot on the base of the chromed shifter shaft (maybe going up just to cover the joint between the two shafts).
Has anyone fitted a rubber boot in place of the leather one on 124's? I really like that look of a small rubber boot, so I've tried to retrofit an another inner boot and attach it to my rather nice wooden center console top (i.e., I'm looking for a solution that doesn't need to have that wooden piece modified), but it just doesn't fit right.
Has anyone found a rubber boot that either fits right out of the box or has been easily modified to fit a 124 sport (maybe from another Fiat model)?
I'm interested in hearing/seeing your different ideas.
Thanks!
Shifter boot options on a 124 sport

I realized this might've been the wrong place.

I'd try custom section, perhaps there'd be more in there, but the forums are fairly small. I've seen what you're talking about though, no links, but I'm pretty sure it exists.

I've never thought about doing it, I've alway's liked the leather boot. You might be able to just find a universal shift boot from a custom shop like this one. Google "rubber shift boot" and select images and it'll come up.

Good idea Nick! I really could use a shifter like that in my other carNick wrote:Maybe you could modify one of these plungers:

Yes, very nice, lol. But I was actually thinking of something more in the lines of this:

It is a "modified" B&M shifter boot. It doesn't fit 100%. It still has a tendency to pull out at times and it's bottom bellows doesn't quite cover up the hole in the console wood. But all-in-all, I really like the look of the exposed chrome shifter.
