I have two Fiat 124's Both have aftermarket Lada Ignition Switches.
One of them is now on it's third Lada Ignition Switch in 3 years. These seem to be crap. Most of the usual sources seem to be selling the same Lada ignition switches for anyone from $60 to $90. Well there is a Russian company now selling what seems to be the same switch on ebay for $18 plus shipping from Russia. I think this is the same switch that most of the vendors are selling. These switches are so low quality that I don't think they are worth rebuilding.
Are there any vendors out there selling new or NOS stock ignition switches anywhere?
Yes I know there are old used ignition switches here and there, but I would rather buy new if I can.
thanks
Mark

You may want to try Midwest Bayless. Matt bought a lot of stock from Bayless and it's possible there is some NOS available.

I just wired in a universal replacement ignition. I paid well under 20 bucks for it - don't remember the actual price. Something like 12 bucks. I had to make a metal plate for it but no big deal. 1 st year, no problem so far (knocking on wood). With a touch of black paint it would look better.
I really have to post a newer picture of my interior.

I looked at some at the local parts store. They were all 15 amp. Does yours handle a higher load. Did you have to modify the wires much to use the universal?katsi wrote:I just wired in a universal replacement ignition. I paid well under 20 bucks for it - don't remember the actual price. No, I plugged into the regular plug just incase I find an "AFFORDABLE" original ignition. Did not want to change much. The wires are pretty streight foward (Don't remember off hand any exact differences). I am running relays for the head lights so maybe that is helping. To be honest, I never gave it much thought . I just plugged her in and it works fine.

HEy Katsi,
Time to send your clock to Radiopilot. When you get it back it will look so nice you will have to redo all the rest of your gauges and all the wood. Best Fiat $ I've spend so far.

Yeah, I have actually looked that one up a few times. I have two clocks. Both work perfectly fine but are yellow and one is missing the peg thing. Right now, I have one of those $3.50 volt meters from Harbor Freight in there. I had to prime and paint the chrome bezel black but that was easy. And, I just plugged the light into the clock harness so the light works perfectly. Well see about the clock down the line. I know I will eventually get it done. Also, that guy that Radiopilot had the run in with was bugging me for a little while. Seemed ok untill he had the problem with Mark. Too bad a guy has got to be that way. He told me he was a Dr. Don't know why a Dr. would need to sell someone else's clocks.Exit98 wrote:Time to send your clock to Radiopilot. Re: Ignition Switches..Anything besides Russian Lada?
I couldn't wait so I ordered a switch on Ebay from mr fiat. http://www.mrfiat.com.
The switch comes in a russian box and is doa. Several of the terminals do not connect with any other terminals no matter what switch setting. It is being sent back for refund.
So then I look at the parts for sale here on the board and manoa matt has a fiat ignition switch for $45 including shipping.
It came in today. I put it and and everything now works better then it ever has. I think my earlier light switch meltdown, might have been caused by a faulty ignition switch. Thanks to Matt. I have a working ignition and car so I can go to the Boston Italian car show this weekend.
