Reproduction hood/heat pads?
Reproduction hood/heat pads?
Wondering if any of the suppliers have thought about offering new underhood heat shields.
Re: Reproduction hood/heat pads?
If it counts for anything, I could use them too... One of mine is gone and the other is in very sad shape.

There is one or two vendors that do sell them new...but they are not cheap by any means. I think its Mr. Fiat out of Atlanta. Chris Obert may also have them. I made some for my car from a water heater insulation sleeve. Its foil faced with glass batt inslulation between the foil layers. It's kind of got a bling bling factor and holds up to the heat well.
The originals are mineral wool insulation with a heavy duty vinyl. I'm sure a local upholstry shop could make some up.

Those are the only ones I've seen but it says it fits only '78 and earlier hoods.TulsaSpider wrote:These too

The link is Mr. Fiat. Early cars used those pads, later cars used a one piece formed felt. The early pads can be fitted to later cars, you just need to find a way of holding them in.

Good to know, I have the one piece formed felt but the fibers are degrading cause of its age.manoa matt wrote:The link is Mr. Fiat. Early cars used those pads, later cars used a one piece formed felt. The early pads can be fitted to later cars, you just need to find a way of holding them in.
