Ohio Vintage gran prix

Post by meangreenspider »

I was at the Mid Ohio sports car course for the vintage grand prix today and there was not a Fiat in sight. I got a lot of complements on mine but would liked to have seen some more Italian cars other than the few ferraris. Today had shows and corrals set up for mostly Brit cars and some german cars but absolutely no fiats. A guy flagged me down and told me the Ohio FLU would have a corral set up tomorrow and it was posted on the website but when I checked there was nothing new on the website. If anyone reads this and lives close enough to Lexington Ohio please come to the track tomorrow so I'm not such a minority. I really liked looking at all the vintage race and street cars but a few fiats would be really nice. I live 2 miles from the track but have never been there for the vintage grand prix. I am very disappointed at the turn out for all other than Brit cars. I know it's a weekend prior to the FFO but I may try to set up a Fiat show/ gathering for next year. If you know anyone in the area please let them know and I hope it sparks some interest.

3 Fiat Spiders were at the show. One of them won "Judges favorite post 1976". It was a 1980 FI in blue with black/ tan interior. Doug was the only FLU member to show up and deserved to win. His engine bay was very nice along with paint and interior. I thought I may have had a shot at some type of award since the judges only stopped and looked at certain cars but after being questioned about changing paint color, interior and after market wheels I knew I was out of the running. I will post photos of dougs Spider in near future. This was a great day for Fiat fans, to win a car show with literally hundreds of "other" vintage European cars around.

Sheldon,

i am sorry I couldn't attend, but glad you hooked up with Doug. He is a great guy and I'm glad he took home the hardware so to speak. There are some pictures below from the event that Doug sent me.

I will be at the Italian Gathering in Columbus on Labor Day weekend. Doug usually goes as well. We generally get a dozen or so FLU members at that event. Hopefully, I'll see you there.
